SoHo’s funky Chinese kitchen Ho Lee Fook has launched a curated menu of signature dishes made for two. True to the spirit of the late-night Chinatown hangouts in 1960’s New York and Hong Kong’s old-school dai pai dongs and cha chaan tengs that inspired the Elgin Street venue, the menu is comprised of dishes that showcase Chef Jowett Yu’s inventive approach to Chinese flavours. The formerly walk-in only restaurant is now accepting reservations for the Good Fortune for Two($388 per person + 10% service charge) menu, making it the perfect date night, without the wait.

The curated menu makes it easy for guests to choose between some of the most iconic dishes from Chef Jow. While all duos start the meal off with his childhood-inspired Mom’s “mostly cabbage, a little bit of pork” Dumplings, the rest of the menu offers a choice of vegetable, mains and rice or noodle. Try favourites like the Wing Bean and Edamame Salad or the Shelter-style Typhoon Corn before moving on to the Kurobuta Pork Char-siu or, upgrade to the show-stopping Roast Wagyu Short Rib topped with a jalapeño puree, green shallot kimchi and soy glaze for an additional $128. No meal is complete without a rice or noodle dish and there is no wrong choice with dishes like the Wok-fried Cheong Fun with house-made XO, white garlic chives and toasted sesame or the Prawn and Bacon Fried Rice. Finally, no dinner at Ho Lee Fook is complete without breakfast; “Breakfast 2.0”, a nostalgic bowl of Horlicks ice cream topped with cornflake honey joys, walnut oatmeal and dried longan served in a cereal bowl and sprinkled with cocoa coffee crumbs.
