Zanolife Director Jarl Borthwick said ″We are delighted to again be a part of this wonderful sporting event held right here in our home of Hong Kong. The fact that it coincides with our partnership with local Hong Kong start-up Belun Technology in promoting their Sleep Analysis Ring makes it even more special. Sleep is vital to our general health and is seen as the next frontier for enhancing sporting performance, therefore this partnership with the Track Cycling World Cup Hong Kong edition makes sense for us on so many levels.″
Zanolife & Belun Technology are excited about the potential sporting applications of the Belun Ring
Belun Technology CEO and inventor of Belun Ring, Dr Lydia Leung said ″Unlike other sleep technology gadgets on the market, the Belun Ring is armed with US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance and is certified as a medical grade device. It can accurately collect sleep data including oxygen saturation, pulse rate, stress level and motion from users and generate a sleep report using AI analytics. ″
Both Zanolife and Belun Technology are excited about the potential application of the Ring in sports science to help with athletes′ performance enhancement and optimisation.
Dr Leung commented; ″Through sleep tracking and direct analysis of an athlete’s slumber, a coaching team can understand an athlete’s health condition and tailor a coaching plan. In addition, when a person is in deep sleep, the body releases growth hormones which promote muscle growth, repair and fat burning, all of which help an athlete’s body recover from the day’s intensive training or competition. Belun Ring can help guide athletes to better sleep quality and as a result; better performance.″
Many research studies have shown a scientific link between sleep and enhanced athletic performance. Extending sleep time can improve endurance performance, according to the first study of its kind published in Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise . The study found that cyclists who extended their sleep time by 90 minutes for three days improved endurance performance by 3 percent in a 60-minute time trial. Elite sporting teams around the world, including franchises in the NBA and NFL and also F.C. Barcelona are using sleep science to give them the edge over their competitors.
In addition to its expected application in sports science, the Belun Ring offers everyone the ability to conveniently, easily and inexpensively understand their sleep quality and also pre-screen for the highly under-diagnosed condition of sleep apnea. Doctors can diagnose sleep apnea and provide medical advice to patients based on the sleep report.
