Found on a quaint and quiet street just off the hustle and bustle of Victoria train station is this wonderfully atmospheric restaurant with an extensive collection of wine. Upon entering the venue you are struck by the relaxed and chilled out vibe that the Edbury emits. The Edbury (now in its 53rd year) has all the trappings of a traditional pub with its internal decor yet when I went, the visitors were from a diverse background which is a testament to its overall popularity. The cuisine can be described as a mixture of British and European as well as a decent choice from the grill.
The Edbury Offers an extensive a la carte menu with a wide selection. Starters include Grilled Tiger Prawn with Tabouleh, Lime and Coriander Vinaigrette (&8.25), Smoked Ham Hock and Parsley Terrnine and Piccalilli (&8.95) and Seared Duck, Bitter Leaf and Pomengranate Salad (&7.95).
The main course dish that I selected was from the grill. The 8Oz Scottish Sirlion (&19.50) which was served with chips (or Salad), pepper sauce, garlic butter and / or Bearnaise Source. This could be supplemented with side dishes including fare such as carrots, mashed cream and salad. Other mains include:
– Pea Risotto with Parmesan and Rocket (&7.95/&14.50 depending on size), Seabass Fillet with Nicoise Salad (&16.25), Roasted Duck Breast with Wild Rice Salad and Cointreau Vinagrette (&19.95)
The Edbury also have an extensive dessert and cheese selection which can definitely satisfy even the most choosiest of sweet tooth!
Desserts include: Blackberry Bakewell Tart with Creme Fraiche (&6.50), Red Berry and Prosseco Jelly with Strawberry Panacoatta and Orange Compote (&6.50) and Warm Chocolate Pudding and Morello Cherry Marmalade (&6.50).
The cheese selection includes Valley Blue, Sussex Farm House and Old Winchester (&9.50).
The service is friendly and efficient and this definitely adds to the uniqueness of the visit. The Edbury is located in the heart of London and has a great and affordable selection of food.
Highly recommended and worth a visit regardless if you live in London or are simply visiting. A great place for a special occasion.
