Wander and Travel…and join forces in support of #SecondHandSeptember with Vestiaire Collective and Oxfam

Vestiaire Collective, the leading global community platform for desirable pre-owned fashion teams up with Oxfam, for the second year running, to promote the environmental benefits of the Circular Fashion Movement with the launch of Oxfam’s #SecondHandSeptember. The campaign takes the moment of fashion week season to celebrate second-hand fashion, asking the industry and consumers alike to consider the importance of building back a better brighter fashion system, placing circularity at the heart of everything we do.

Over 13 million pieces of clothing end up in landfill every week. Now, more than ever, we must question the way we enjoy fashion. You don’t always need to buy new on trend pieces to enjoy the creativity of fashion. This September, Vestiaire Collective brings to life the FROWs of previous seasons by joining forces with VIP’s and industry profiles to donate timeless pieces they have worn to previous fashion shows and events. The exclusive edit will be sold on Vestiaire Collective with all money raised going to Oxfam, helping to beat poverty around the world.

Key pieces from the exclusive edit include a pink Burberry trench selected by Michaela Coel, a classic Yves Saint Laurent blazer donated by Kate Moss, a Miu Miu skirt from Naomie Harris, a Prada gown from Carey Mulligan, a Miu Miu striped dress from Chloë Sevigny, an Isabel Marant yellow silk jumpsuit from Thandie Newton, an APC checked twinsuit from Maisie Williams, a floral Rixo dress from Erin O’Connor and a pair of Charlotte Olympia heels donated by Anna Dello Russo.

This September, you too can help make a difference, join the circular fashion movement by taking the Oxfam x VestiaireCo pledge to say yes to second hand for 30 days or more. Join Vestiaire Collective’s 10 million global members and become a circular fashion activist, it’s time to clear-out pieces you no longer wear and practice conscious consumption. Help us transform a wasteful tradition of over-consumption and reduce the waste by buying less. Trade up for more quality pieces that you love and are made to stand the test of time.

Fanny Moizant – Co-Founder and President Vestiaire Collective comments;

“Vestiaire Collective is hugely proud to team up with Oxfam’s Second Hand September initiative for a second year! We share their passion to drive positive sustainable change for people and the planet, the campaign pledge is a simple but powerful way for everyone to get involved and help build a better future”

Fee Gilfeather – Oxfam’s Sustainability Expert comments;

“While the pandemic has brought suffering and loss to many, it has also provided opportunities to break old habits and build a fairer and more sustainable future. We’re so grateful to Vestiaire Collective for the support. By shopping second-hand, you’ll be helping Oxfam to beat poverty around the world, as well as reducing our impact on the planet. You’ll be investing in projects that include helping people to build livelihoods in places like Bangladesh – a country that has been largely affected by the economic fallout of the retail industry during this pandemic.

Oxfam’s Second Hand September 2020 is a great opportunity to send a message to retailers that we want them to use this year to come back better for the people who make their clothes.”
